Special permission for merchandise for this special occasion.

Published: March 30, 2022

At Geiger we take our role as brand protectors as seriously as brand promoters. Our team, often referred to as the ‘logo police’, are trained to help ensure that your brand’s integrity is always protected when used by us, our suppliers and indeed by your own teams.

This year, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is providing new opportunities for merchandise teams.

To mark the events surrounding this very special occasion, the Queen has approved that the usual rules governing the use of Royal Names and Titles may be temporarily relaxed to allow their use for events, projects and buildings to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee – this includes celebratory merchandise!

Under normal circumstances, the use of the Royal Arms and other Royal Devices for commercial purposes is prohibited unless the permission of the Member of the Royal Family concerned has been obtained, however not this year!

This means that companies who may be holding their own celebrations over the bank holiday weekend or wish to gift some dual branded commemorative merchandise, can take advantage of this unique relaxation of the rules to create some exciting new products.

To find out more about the new rules, you can review the official guidance here: https://www.royal.uk/sites/default/files/platinum_jubilee_souvenir_guidelines.pdf

Our teams have been busy compiling a presentation of ideas that you, your team or business might find useful. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of nostalgic merchandise!
